Blue Heart 03:02
Blue Heart by Jessica Graae (c) 2017 I woke up with a song in my head. I heard it all before. Remembered all the words that you said. Oh babe you wanted more. I came back to your arms again. Free spirit though I am. Stopped breathing only now and then. Oh, baby understand. Blue heart, don’t start, to you my blood is running Cold dreams, it seems, to you my world is burning wild. Been years since I felt young. Regret’s my only friend. I’d take back all the things that I’ve done. Repenting ‘til the end. Blue heart, don’t start, to you my blood is running Cold dreams, it seems, to you my world is burning wild. My grave will be the sky. My spirit flying free. No god will watch me die. Oh, then I’ll find my peace. Blue heart, don’t start, to you my blood is running Cold dreams, it seems, to you my world is burning wild.

Winter is breaking by Jessica Graae (c) 2017 Winter is breaking Sweethearts are aching Buried under snow, ‘neath the moss-covered ground. The earth takes no heeding The stones keep on bleeding. Buried under snow, ‘neath the moss-covered ground. Only the moon had the heart left to cry. Silvery moon that was caught in her eye. Haunted by voices. No other choices. Buried under snow, ‘neath the moss-covered ground. Footsteps unfollowed- the earth has been hollowed. Buried under snow, ‘neath the moss-covered ground. Only the moon had the heart left to cry. Silvery moon that was caught in her eye. Whispering pines, The woods have no eyes. Only the moon has seen. Falling soft, The branches sigh. And crown her as their queen. Only the moon had the heart left to cry. Silvery moon that was caught in her eye.

The Sailor and the Angel by Jessica Graae (c) 2017 The sailor called his angel from the blue bay. He said, “Today might be my very last day. I heard the news: a storm is headed my way.” “Will you take my hand- for I don’t have a god. Do you understand: I don’t have a lot of time. I don’t have a lot of time.” The angel found him sailing on the high seas. He felt her there, and he got right down on his knees. “Will you take my hand- for I don’t have a god. Do you understand: I don’t have a lot of time. I don’t have a lot of time.” “Sailor come with me. Sailor out to see. Sailor come with me. Sailor out to see.” She took his hand and held it by her heart, And made him sleep, as crashing waves did part. “Will you take my hand- for I don’t have a god. Do you understand: I don’t have a lot of time. I don’t have a lot of time.” “Sailor come with me. Sailor out to see. Sailor come with me. Sailor out to see.”

Keep you safe by Jessica Graae (c) 2017 Heard that you were sleeping with the lights left on… lights left on, lights left on. Heard that you were sleeping with the lights left on. Lights left on. Creeping in the shadows of the quiet night, quiet night, quiet night. Creeping in the shadows of the quiet night. Quiet night. Hoping there’s a lock that will keep you safe, Maybe you won’t always have to hide your face. On my way, back home. Heard you went to church, you were all dressed up, all dressed up, all dressed up. Saw you went to church, you were all dressed up. All dressed up. Said you found the answer to your broken life, broken life, broken life. Said you found the answer to your broken life. Broken life. On my way, back home. Hoping there’s a lock that will keep you safe, Maybe you won’t always have to hide your face. Hoping you’ll find something that will give you peace. One day you will travel way beyond those seas. Would you take an apple from a fallen tree, fallen tree, fallen tree? Would you take an apple from a fallen tree. Fallen tree. On my way, back home. Only taste of goodness there would ever be, ever be, ever be. Only taste of goodness there would ever be. Ever be.

Words on Fire by Jessica Graae © 2017 I wrote you a letter, That you’ll never see. I waited ‘til it was too late. I became all the things that you asked me to be. Did everything you said. Now all is left, Is a hole in my soul, And the poetry you’ll never get. My words are on fire, They burn it all down. Higher and higher, Flames all around. You don’t know the difference, Between love and submission, Beauty you’ve captured in vain. To have and behold it- And then to control it. It’s pleasure wrapped up in pain. My words are on fire, They burn it all down. Higher and higher, Flames all around. I buried that letter, Deep in the ground, The words that I never said. They smolder like embers, They’re scorching my brain, Raging inside of my head. My words are on fire, They burn it all down. Higher and higher, Flames all around. Now all is left, Is a hole in my soul, And the poetry you’ll never get.

A Thousand Angels by Jessica Graae (c) 2017 Take my heart away if you can. For I don’t want to feel no pain. Bind it with ribbons to bury in sand. For I don’t want to see it again. He broke this bond he had with the earth Left all mortal things behind. Now we know what a man’s life is worth. To live by his words and heed heaven’s signs. A thousand angels alight the sky. Their flight is silent, their wings are bright. Saving words were spoken to late. He had already returned to the wind. The only words now were left on his grave. A simple reminder of who he had been. Take my heart it’s too heavy to hold. For I am growing weak. My spirit is fading and I’m growing old. Go bury it by the sea A thousand angels alight the sky. Their flight is silent, their wings are bright.

It’s not meant for you by Jessica Graae (c) 2017 Hidden away, but locked and loaded. He never used it once. Kept in a closet for protection. That’s how he always had done. That’s how he always had done. Oh, Happy Day, his son is born. Someone to take his name. The boy grew strong, and sharp as a thorn- But curious, just the same. But curious, just the same. Don’t touch that gun, son, It’s not meant for you. It’s cold and it’s heavy. The bullet goes right through. The bullet goes right through. It’s getting late, the sun is setting. Boy’s waiting by himself. He finds the key, the gun he’s getting. “Father, I never will tell.” “Father, I never will tell.” Don’t touch that gun, son, It’s not meant for you. It’s cold and it’s heavy. The bullet goes right through. Laid in the ground, right by his father, Who couldn’t bear the grief. The boy was strong and sharp as a thorn, A man he’d never be. A man he’d never be. Don’t touch that gun, son, It’s not meant for you. It’s cold and it’s heavy. The bullet goes right through. The bullet goes right through.

We're Standing Over Heaven by Jessica Graae (c) 2017 Stars fall But they don’t bring me down Sparkle They don’t make a sound. When will it end? We have only our time. We look to the divine. When will it end? We’re standing over heaven. We’re standing down on earth. We’re standing over heaven. Walk soft, walk soft Books read, Their bindings won’t last, Paper, it turns into ash. When will it end? We’re standing over heaven. We’re standing down on earth. We’re standing over heaven. Walk soft, walk soft

Chicken Dance by Jessica Graae (c) 2017 The chicken saw the rooster and she thought she’d like to dance. The rooster saw the chicken and he thought of bird romance. Hello my darlin’ My white feathered friend. Oh, please pardon. My big, silly grin. The chicken’s name was Heather and the Rooster’s name was Fred. When they danced together, they both knew that they should wed. Why take it slow? We’re birds, you know. We’ll fall behind if we take too much time. At the wedding there was lots of corn and grains for all to eat. The sound of jubilation and dancing chicken feet. Hello my darlin’ My white feathered friend. Oh, please pardon. My big, silly grin.
