Inspired by a true story. In 1948, my great-grandparents Frederik and Christiane Graae were on a Danish ferry that struck a mine from the war. As the Minister of Culture, my great-grandfather was offered a lifeboat. He and my great-grandmother decided to allow younger people to have the chance to survive, and went down with the boat.
